About us

The Redaktionsbuero was a free journalists collective, founded in 2000 in Vienna by Antje Mayer and Manuela Hötzl.

Since May 2009, it has been divided in the Redaktionsbuero OST (by Antje Mayer) and the Redaktionsbuero Architektur (by Manuela Hötzl).

Both departments designed magazine appearances in all forms of media content and wrote about architecture, social affairs, art, culture, design and fashion for national and international publications.

The two Redaktionsbuero offices took care of websites, magazines, newspapers and book productions with the help of a big free network of correspondents, translators, graphic designers, IT-experts, photographers and filmmakers.

Book: Spike AER GUIDE EAST

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Iron Curtain spike art quarterly presents a new publication.
spike art guide east – a briefing on contemporary art and culture in Central and Eastern Europe. What makes up a city's art scene? The places where art takes place, the cafés and restaurants where people meet, the bars and clubs. The spike Art Guide East examines the art scenes, past and present, of ten Central and Eastern European cities: Belgrade, Bratislava, Bucharest, Budapest, Ljubljana, Prague, Sarajevo, Sofia, Vienna and Zagreb. Included are interviews, articles and recommendations from artists, curators, critics, gallery owners, collectors and creatives on-site.

JUST! Architecture from Austria

There is no doubt that contemporary Austrian architecture has achieved a high international reputation in the last few decades.
But is there really a specifically Austrian architecture? And if so what are its characteristics? Architecture critics Walter Chramosta, Manuela Hötzl, Bart Lootsma, Antje Mayer, Jan Tabor, and Ute Woltron have made a highly personal selection of recent projects in Austria, using them as a basis for an attempt to identify typical regional qualities.

JUST! Architecture from Austria

Ortner & Ortner. Wörterbuch der Baukunst (Primer of Architecture)

This Primer is an attempt to develop a special vocabulary for themes related to building using examples taken from the oeuvre of Haus-Rucker-Co and Ortner & Ortner. The fact that three authors with very different backgrounds undertake the definition of such a vocabulary also represents a kind of cross-referring critique.
